Lazy Sunday

Yesterday we decided diner food was necessary. Turns out it was. A Carolina pulled pork sandwich, slaw and a side of sweet potato fries hit the spot. I enjoyed the sloppy sammy with my best girls; that dark haired mysterioso Kate and the always sunny blonde bombshell Anna of The Shalitas fame.. We spent the early afternoon gossiping in the kitsch environs of an old school diner right here in Brooklyn.. All red and white, relics from the fifties, checkered floors and chrome stools that swivel.

My only regret? I didn't order the dreamsicle shake that caught my eye during my fifteen minute perusal of the menu before deciding on the Carolina sandwich.
After lunch we strolled to the park to lay on warm, spongy, grass and chit-chat with Xmastime... There was the crack of a nearby bat as it collided with a meaty softball, the resulting cheers from the assembled, a butter yellow sun blazing across an azure sky, a delicate breeze that licked quietly at hair, grass and leaves.. But more importantly there were friends and good conversation..

And stuff...

And things...

Friends are the best

I never knew Xmastime painted his toenails!!!!!!

The diner is one of the finest things in all of America. Living in Jersey I have about 4 diners within 5 minutes of my house. I had dinnner at one late last night. All by myself. I think eating at the counter of a diner by yourself is one the most relaxing things ever!!!!

Ugh. I sure didn't know I looked THAT bad yesterday. In the future please warn me before I leave the house...or at least warn everyone else that I'm coming so they can bury their heads in the dirt.

Great photos. Glad you're out and about. Your pics make me want to lay out in the park for hours with friends, a good book and headphones.

My favorite picture was the hairy one with Monica's feet underneath "and stuff".
Having fun friends is important. Often I think I feel fine and then after talking to a good friend I feel so relieved and uplifted I realize that I actually felt terrible I was just getting used to my baggage. And when we go out and do stuff it's even better, I am like air. I don't feel like crying at all unless it fits the mood. I love it when I go home and my sides hurt because I've been laughing so hard all day.
But two questions: What is he pointing at and what is the tatoo of?
June 12, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterdesiree
Wow! was the sky really that blue in Brooklyn yesterday? I don't recall it being that blue here in Manhattan.

Long lazy days of summer with good friends - doesn't get much better than that.

And, Anna, you do NOT look fat!

Why does Xmastime always have his finger pointing? Is it is trademark?
June 12, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterjust wondering
Y'know.. what IS the deal with the finger pointing Xmastime? Are you trying to start a fad? Is it your signature sign? Like Paris Hilton says 'That's Hot', you'd like the world to recognize finger pointing as Xmastime's signature?

I'd like a signature sign... Hmmm... maybe I could flash my boobs? Nah, the internet repercussions could haunt me later.. Stick out my tongue? Boring.. Maybe I could flash the peace sign?

By the by.. am amazed no one has commented on the FREAKISHLY long toe on my left foot. I could peel bananas with that sucker.
June 12, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterMonica
I was marveling not over the long toe but over the fact that 107 in your More About Me section is true. I think your feet are beautiful and I love the tattoo.

Monica, look at your other photos of Xmastime; he's got that digit raised in almost every pic. I guess he's #1.
